Man indicted on child sex charges

OAK HARBOR — An Oak Harbor man is facing a 10-count indictment for alleged sexual contact with a child. Jonathan R. Robinson, 21, 10200 block W. Cullman Road, was arrested on Thursday after being indicted by an Ottawa County grand jury. He faces four counts of sexual battery, four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor. The indictment says the alleged victim was under the age of 16. It also states Robinson was a teacher, coach, administrator or other person in authority employed by or serving in a school in which the victim was enrolled or attended. According to a police report, Robinson allegedly told police he was an assistant on the team. Benton-Carroll-Salem superintendent Guy Parmigian told the Register on Monday that Robinson was not a coach or volunteer and was not on the district's payroll. The alleged sexual contact between Robinson and the victim was reported by the victim's mother, according to VanEerten. He said that the victim was not a member of the boys soccer team. Robinson's initial court appearance is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday. He is currently incarcerated in the Ottawa County Detention Facility under a no-bond order.
