Pizza Challenge raises nearly $10K

SANDUSKY — The Sandusky Rotary Club's Pizza Challenge was back for its 21st year on Wednesday — this time, at a new venue. The annual event is a fundraiser for the club's Rotary Clothes Kids program. Nine pizza vendors served up more than 550 pizzas to approximately 900 attendees, according to a Rotary Club news release. The event occurred at Cedar Point Sports Center. It was the first time the complex hosted the event. This year's Pizza Challenge raised nearly $10,000 between admission fees and raffles, the release states. Over the event's 21-year history, it has raised more than a quarter of a million dollars, according to club member Rick Jeffrey. In addition to appreciation certificates handed out to the pizza vendors, there were awards in three categories: best pepperoni pizza, best specialty pizza and people's choice award.
