Man charged with felony domestic violence

SANDUSKY — A local man is facing a felony charge after an alleged disturbance at his residence on Friday. Otis Campbell, 64, 500 block Pearl St., was arrested and charged with assault and felony domestic violence. At approximately 11:45 p.m., officers were called to a home in the 500 block of Pearl St. for the report of a physical domestic violence incident. When they arrived, officers located Campbell with blood on his hands and shirt. Campbell purportedly told officers he just wanted to gather his clothes so he could sleep in his truck. Officers then spoke with the alleged victim. She said that Campbell was upset that he could not find his crack pipe and began throwing items in the residence, according to a Sandusky police report. Officers noted that the home was in disarray, aligning with the woman's story. She further stated that Campbell then allegedly began assaulting her, wrestling her into the bedroom and striking her in the face, causing a lip laceration, the report states. Officers attempted to speak further with Campbell, but he was uncooperative and called the alleged victim a "stupid (expletive)," according to the report. Campbell was arrested and taken to Erie County Jail. Upon running a criminal conviction history, officers found Campbell had previously been convicted of domestic violence three times. As such, his charge was enhanced to a third-degree felony. Campbell was held at the jail under a no bond order until his Monday morning arraignment.
