Sandusky man tops music chart

SANDUSKY — The latest accolade for Jimmy Larrick, who goes under the performer name Jimmy Rock, ranks No. 1 in terms of his proudest career achievement. His single, "Won't Stop" (Reyer Remix) reached the top spot on iTunes' electronic rankings on March 10. This music listing factors in songs belonging to a genre known as EDM, which stands for electronic dance music. It's Larrick's first No. 1 single on any major recognized chart. "This honor means a lot to me," said Larrick, a 2003 Sandusky High School graduate still residing in the city. "It's validation for following my heart and dreams." Larrick's song features Christian hip-hop artists Steven Malcolm and Fern of Social Club Misfits. His record outpaced — in terms of how many people played this music over a given period — mainstream powerhouse musicians such as Skrillex, Moby and Missy Elliott. The song also hits home for Larrick, who explained its origins and how this record dovetails with his life. Larrick experienced many struggles, but this latest breakthrough gives him newfound motivation to continue pursuing his craft. "'Won't Stop' is about never giving up, never letting doubts or opinions of others slow you down," Larrick said. "I want to be a light in the world. I want to show people how much Jesus has changed my life and that he can do the same for them also. You're never too far gone for him to reach you right where you are." Larrick considers himself an international touring artist and DJ, specializing in electronic dance music and hip-hop remixes. He's performed nationwide and globally, including in Kenya, Colombia, Guatemala and Canada. Collectively, songs with his name have generated more than 1 million global streams on Spotify. By April, Larrick expects to debut his first major label release through Capital Records. "This No. 1 on iTunes couldn't have come at a better time," Larrick said. Larrick credits his fans for this honor due to their unwavering belief in his abilities and continued faith in him. "I can't wait for you to hear the new music I have coming out with Social Club," Larrick said. "It's house/dance music that is going to go crazy in clubs and at festivals."
