NORWALK — The Regional Incubator for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship is joining forces with the Minority Business Assistance Center to host a workshop for local women, veteran and minority business owners to learn more about the benefits and application process for state certifications that will enhance their business opportunities in Ohio. "Ohio offers multiple certifications including the Minority Business Enterprise, Women-owned Business Enterprise and the Veteran-owned Business Enterprise," according to an event statement. "Certified businesses are eligible for contract assistance, financial assistance, management and technical assistance," it continued. "Plus they serve as a great way for a business to stand out with today's consumer." The Minority Business Assistance Center identifies emerging minority-owned businesses and cultivates their growth and sustainability. Professional staff work with owners of existing businesses, startups, certified Minority Business Enterprises, certified Encouraging Diversity Growth and Equity businesses and socially and economically disadvantaged businesses. In this workshop, attendees will learn more about hosting organizations, the benefits to being a certified business and how to begin the process. Following the seminar, there will be a live question-and-answer session to address any inquiries regarding the organizations and Ohio's certifications. It's a great opportunity to have everything laid out on the table for you. If you've ever thought about getting your certification, but just didn't know where to begin, this would be the workshop for you. The Regional Incubator for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship is operated by the Erie County Economic Development Corp., the Norwalk Economic Development Corp. and BGSU Firelands. The incubator program offers support for entrepreneurs and businesses by linking them to a wide range of assistance and skilled providers with expertise in business start-up, development and acceleration.
