Danny Trejo coming to Sandusky

SANDUSKY — An acclaimed actor whose film career dates back more than 35 years ago intends on visiting Sandusky for an upcoming event. Danny Trejo — known for playing the character "Machete" in the movies of the same name — is the guest star of a new local author series. Trejo also appeared in many TV shows, like "Sons of Anarchy" and movies, namely the "From Dusk till Dawn" franchise. An Evening with Danny Trejo takes place Friday, March 10 at Sandusky High School's auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the actual event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are required and available for Erie County residents only. People can visit dannytrejolange.eventbrite.com to receive two free tickets while supplies last. This event is sponsored by the Lange Trust of the Sandusky Library. It helps to celebrate the trust's 50th anniversary. "The Lange Trust provides free cultural and educational opportunities to the citizens of Erie County," said trust chairwoman Sarah Prout, who noted the trust also brings sculptures to Sandusky and sponsors summertime concerts on Jackson Street Pier. Prout then explained how Trejo's event fulfills the trust's mission and milestone celebration. "Since we are a part of the Sandusky Library, it seemed natural to celebrate with a first-ever author series. Danny Trejo will be our first author in the series this year," Prout said. "His book, 'My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood' should have something for everyone as well as his cookbook, 'Trejo's Tacos.'" Trejo agreed to visit Sandusky "after hearing that the Lange Trust offers free educational opportunities to our residents, and, of course, the books at the library are always loaned out free of charge," Prout said. "His message should be a good one, and we hope everyone will try our new ticketing effort through Eventbrite." On the television side, Trejo had recurring roles on "Sons of Anarchy," "King of the Hill," "Breaking Bad" and "The Flash," among others.
