What happened 'the night before'?

NORWALK — The Huron County sheriff, a state crime lab agent and the chief deputy met with a woman Tuesday who provided information she says is related to the disappearance of Amanda D. Dean in July 2017. Amanda Dean Provided It's unclear what information was turned over or if it will lead to an arrest. The Register on Wednesday made a public records request for a dispatch call log from July 10, 2017, and other records related to an alleged domestic violence complaint at a home in Collins. Dean lived there, in a shack on the property, with an abusive boyfriend, according to family members, before she disappeared. Dean is listed as the victim of a previous domestic violence complaint at that address and a possible overdose call there in June and in January 2017, respectively. The state crime lab agreed late last year to restart a search for Dean. Since then, however, it's unknown if authorities are actively investigating it as a missing persons case or a potential homicide. In 2017, there was a report made to the sheriff's office that Dean was killed and buried — put in a blue barrel — on the property where she lived. There's no record provided by the sheriff that the allegation was ever previously investigated or if it is being investigated now. * Check back here for updates when they happen.
