Meet Main Street Vermilion's new board

VERMILION — Main Street Vermilion recently announced its new board of directors for 2023. This year, the organization welcomed three new members as well as two returning members now serving on the executive board. Among the new members: Amy Jo West, a preschool teacher at Lorain County Community College for 23 years. "When my husband and I moved to Vermilion four years ago, I saw the excitement and commitment that Main Street volunteers showcased as we attended their events," West said. "I look forward to extending that as a board member." Hannah Vlk comes to the board with more than 10 years in hospitality specializing in marketing and operations. She is currently consulting for restaurants in the Cleveland and Columbus markets. "Although I was raised on the east side of Cleveland, I am not new to the area, having grown up boating on Lake Erie," Vlk said. "I am proud to now call Vermilion my home." Suzi Piskur is returning to the board. A Vermilion resident for almost 10 years, she is a senior development manager at the American Cancer Society. "I am looking forward to rejoining the board to continue working in community engagement and historic preservation," Piskur said. After serving the office as vice president, Micah Roberts will now take the helm as president. She has more than 20 years of experience in medical sales and is the owner of Erie and Anchor. "I am excited to continue my work with Main Street Vermilion," Roberts said. "It is my goal to add even more family programming and events to the calendar." Sarah Ross moves to vice president after serving on the board for two years. She is the executive director for the Norwalk Economic Development Corp. "Having been professionally employed in nonprofit management for over a decade, I am excited to bring my knowledge of long-term strategic outlook to my position," Ross said. Returning in their 2022 roles include Fred Miggins as treasurer and Libby Williams as secretary. Since 2001, Main Street Vermilion has worked to promote downtown economic and business development, historic preservation, community revitalization, beautification and tourism. Its mission is supported by partner programs: Vermilion in Bloom, Historic Preservation, Shore Thing, Vermilion Arts Guild and Public Art Vermilion.
