SANDUSKY — Cedar Point announced today that a reimagined Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster will debut in 2024. In a teaser video uploaded to YouTube, the park shows 44 seconds of the iconic Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster as well as a new tag line, "A new formula for thrills. Coming in 2024." The teaser video was released 20 years to the date Top Thrill Dragster was originally announced on Jan. 9, 2003. Cedar Point becomes the first Cedar Fair park to make its 2024 announcement with the landing page on its website now available teasing the reimagined attraction. Top Thrill Dragster has been closed since Aug. 15, 2021. On this day, a piece of the ride, a metal plate, fell and struck a park guest in the head causing serious injury. In September 2022, the park announced Top Thrill Dragster will be retired and reimagined. While this new teaser campaign provides no new information, it does put to rest that the attraction will be debuting for the 2024 season. No doubt this news will be all the buzz throughout the 2023 season, as guests try and decipher the clues for the newly reimagined attraction. Our best guess at this point is the anticipation will build all season with an official announcement in August 2023.
