Ruhe Haus makes clients feel at home

SANDUSKY — Feel free to enter Erika McGuire's new "haus." McGuire, a born-and-raised Sandusky resident, recently opened Ruhe Haus Spa and Wellness at 919 W. Washington St. (U.S. 6) located near Better Half Family Diner. People need to make an appointment to receive services at the business, open Tuesdays through Saturdays. "I offer customized skin care treatments that are both clinically effective at treating skin concerns while simultaneously being a relaxing experience," said McGuire, who graduated from the Aveda Institute of Columbus, receiving her advanced cosmetologist license. Working in the cosmetology field for the past 17 years, owning and operating a business fulfills one of her longtime ambitions. When people step inside Ruhe Haus, she immediately gives them some assurances and revealed her main intent. "I want people to learn to love themselves and give themselves grace in their lives, so I do my best to offer all-around mental, physical and emotional care to each client that I treat," McGuire said. "People need to feel a sense of deep relaxation that only self-care can provide, and I give that to each client. Among the services she offers: • Skin care treatments that include clinical services such as dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, hydrodermabrasion, peels and other forms of physical care to the skin • Relaxation massage, scalp and foot treatments and full body exfoliation • Brow enhancement services such as brow wax, tint and lamination • An infrared sauna and full-body red light therapy bed • Insight to whole-body integration for treating acne, aging, skin conditions and more through holistic approach methods "Clients and potential clients should know that this isn't a typical cookie-cutter service every time they come because, each time I see them, circumstances are different, and we adjust their treatment specifics to their current condition, so it is truly a custom experience every single time you book with me," McGuire said. Before receiving any of these services, each client first undergoes an individualized assessment, which allows McGuire to "customize an entire experience geared toward meeting their personal and clinical goals and requests." "I have made it a priority, and will for the extent of my career, to learn as much as I can and become certified in many different levels of treatments, conditions as well as overall health and wellness knowledge," she said. "I am always willing to learn and even more willing to teach." McGuire then made a pitch as to why people should visit her. "Most of my clients would agree because they have never felt such a relaxing yet satisfying treatment before, and I would agree with that because that is my fullest intent," she said. She then made a promise to all of her customers, new or existing: "I will never put any of my clients' skin, hair or health in jeopardy, and I will always make the best use of the time that my clients share with me no matter what service we are scheduled for together," she said. What's in a name? McGuire gave some insight into the business name Ruhe Haus Spa and Wellness. "The name 'Ruhe Haus' is a translation of 'healing house,' or 'quiet/peace house.' I truly hope to, in the future, expand my 'haus' to provide integrated wellness services to the town and be able to offer so much more in the field of integrated health and therapy."
