A first look at Lola's Vintage Lakehouse

PORT CLINTON — On Dec. 16, the Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of Lola's Vintage Lakehouse. "Congratulations," according to a chamber statement. "We look forward to having your new business in our community." Lola's is located at 212 Buckeye Blvd. in Port Clinton. Its hours are from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays; along with 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. This represents a dream come true for owner Lisa Smith. Smith offered some background and context into Lola's: The idea for Lola's has been brewing for a few years and came out of a quarterly tradition that is held near and dear to my heart, where my girlfriends from high school and I go strolling through undiscovered, quaint little towns to uncover the perfect shop, to uncover the vintage repurposed item, piece of tailored clothing, sparkly jewelry or antique that was especially meant for its new owner. Vintage shopping has become a thing and especially in a town like Port Clinton, where strolling through shops is a fun way of spending time away from the hustle and bustle, unwind and have some fun. It's a way to get unplugged and let one's nostalgic creativity flow. So, after looking at the 5,000-square-foot vacant building that my husband and I own for far too long. I knew it was time to start putting together the pieces of what we now call Lola's Vintage Lakehouse. My daughter came to me and said, "Mom, what are you waiting for? Let's get the shop open." And, with her momentum and eye for the perfect vintage, repurposed piece, Lola's has come to fruition and will be an addition to the many local shops in Ottawa County. We are so excited to share precious pieces of history that we feel have been saved from garbage dumpsters and given a chance to brighten the life of someone who cherishes antiques, vintage and pieces of history. Our hope is that you will come in, stroll around, take a step back in time, look up the story of Audrey Hepburn or any other new undiscovered fun fact, go home with your newfound treasure and maybe even take a load off to watch the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's." We are a consignment shop and are currently accepting vendors.
