Sandusky Schools academic officer leaving

SANDUSKY — A Sandusky High School alumna will soon leave her hometown school district. On Tuesday, Sandusky Schools chief academic officer Tracy Reed was named Reynoldsburg Schools' superintendent. She'll begin her new job on Feb. 1, 2023. Reynoldsburg Schools is located on the eastern side of Columbus and enrolls almost 7,800 students, its website states. Sandusky superintendent Dan Rambler congratulated Reed on her new appointment. "I have valued our time together and certainly appreciated her efforts to improve student learning at Sandusky City Schools," he said. "Dr. Reed will be missed, however, we are extremely excited to see the tremendous work she will accomplish upon her arrival at Reynoldsburg City Schools." According to the Columbus Dispatch, Reed's two-and-a-half-year contract lasts through July 31, 2025. She's expected to be paid "an annual base salary of $167,000 with 2% increases each year beginning Aug. 1, 2023." The salary figure does not include her benefits package. Reed, a 1984 Sandusky graduate, was hired last year to oversee Sandusky Schools' curriculum along with academic programming and initiatives. She made $128,100 during the first year of her two-year contract. "It has been a wonderful experience working with my mentor Dr. Eugene Sanders and former classmates and friends like (chief of staff and transformation officer) Dennis Muratori," Reed told the Register on Thursday. "I'm sad to leave my hometown and excited about the future. I wish the students and staff great success." During her career, Reed was the chief academic officer at Fort Wayne Schools in Indiana and Benton Harbor Schools in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She has taught in Cleveland and served as an assistant principal and principal at Maple Heights Schools. With the upcoming vacancy, Reed and Rambler "have drafted a district-wide plan that will be utilized through the next few months," Sandusky Schools officials said Thursday in a news release. "Along with support from the chief of staff and transformation officer, the district will ensure a smooth transition in the academic department which will focus on enhancing student learning and achievement," officials said. Additionally, "Sandusky City Schools' academic core curriculum team will partner and collaborate with professional and support staff to guarantee a smooth transition that aligns with and meets the expectations of our strategic plan."
