New dealership parked in Huron

HURON TWP. — For one family, they're driven to provide the best vehicles possible for customers. "This was a chance for us to take, and we're doing it," said Jon McGraw, the co-owner of McGraw Auto Sales, 2112 Cleveland Road W. (U.S. 6), in Huron. Jon runs the business with his wife, Danielle McGraw, who's its other co-owner. About a month ago, the Lorain residents debuted their family-run dealership located between McDonald's and the Shell gas station. They sell a wide mix of quality used cars, which include Fords, Infinitis, Mazdas, Chevrolets, Subarus and more, according to Danielle, whose background comes in mental health and human services. "Every car we have on our lot is safe," said Danielle, a former Sandusky resident who teaches yoga at Open Way Yoga in Huron. "We also have a mechanic in town that we take to get every vehicle checked out and fixed before we sell them." Added Jon: "I won't put your family in our cars if I wouldn't put my family in them. That's our guarantee. We make sure every vehicle is safe on our lot." Jon boasts more than 25 years in the automobile industry. During this time, he's served in many different capacities, most notably working as a finance director along with running and developing dealerships for marquee franchises. "This has been my dream," said Jon, referencing his family running a dealership that boasts the McGraw name. He noted they could pursue this opportunity after, some months ago, his past company got bought out. Both then wanted to give the community some assurances about her dealership's long-term viability in Huron. They realize many other businesses, including a number of dealerships, have come and gone in this Huron space over the years, leaving it largely vacant at a prominent intersection near Ohio 2. "We are not affiliated with any of the people who were here before us," Danielle said. "We have nothing to do with them." Jon then chimed in: "Our plan is that we are going to be here for years." They want to eventually pass down the business to their son, Owen, 5, who's a constant fixture at the dealership. The same holds true for their family dog, Norman, a miniature schnauzer, who greets customers when they walk inside when not napping. People can stop by the dealership, which is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays as well as 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. "Our biggest goal is to help people," Jon said. "We want to help them — whether they have good credit, bad credit or no credit at all — because we understand things happen in life." Danielle wholeheartedly agrees. "We have quality, affordable cars that we would like to see people in and drive away from our lot," she said.
