Grace Episcopal hires new pastor

SANDUSKY — One of Sandusky's oldest churches found its newest leader. Earlier this week, Grace Episcopal Church, located near downtown Sandusky, named Rev. Seth Wymer its new full-time pastor. He joins the church on Nov. 27 and is currently the pastor of St. John's Episcopal Church in Lancaster, near Columbus. Sandusky congregants can meet Wymer and his wife, Melissa and their two children, Arlo and Emmett, who will attend Sunday's worship service. "Come to church and meet the new rector and his family," the church posted on its social network page. "Thanks be to God." Since November 2020, Rev. Brian Wilbert, of Oberlin, has been the Sandusky church's interim pastor. He temporarily replaced Jan Smith Wood, who retired on Oct. 31, 2020, and served the congregation for nine years. "I've felt very welcome in Sandusky," Wilbert told the Register in January 2021. "We're all looking forward to having the pandemic behind us and getting together to sing." Grace Episcopal Church was founded in the mid-1800s and is Sandusky's oldest church building still being used, according to eriecountyohiohistory.com.
