PC man sentenced for sex with minor

PORT CLINTON — A Port Clinton man who pleaded guilty to having sex with a minor is heading to prison. Kyle E. Grubb, 24, was sentenced to nine years in prison by Ottawa County Common Pleas Court Judge Bruce Winters on Monday. Grubb pleaded guilty, on July 22, to six counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, all fourth-degree felonies. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors agreed to drop 16 counts of corrupting another with drugs, all second-degree felonies. A July 2021 indictment accused Grubb of engaging in sex with a minor over the course of two years from August 2018 to August 2020. During the same time period, Grubb also supplied the teen with cocaine, according to the indictment. Winters sentenced Grubb to 18 months in prison on each of the six unlawful sexual contact charges. He ordered that the sentences be served consecutively. "The court finds that consecutive (sentences are) necessary to protect the public from future crime," the sentencing report states. After release from prison, Grubb will serve five years of probation. He is now a Tier II sex offender. He will be required to register his work and home addresses with the local sheriff every 180 days for 25 years. Grubb was given 346 days of credit for time served in jail while his case progressed.
