Port Clinton to induct 5 into athletic hall of fame

Port Clinton's Athletic Hall of Fame is soon to include five new members. Don Drusbacky, Chelsea Beck Carvalho, Allie Reynolds, Marcus Hunt and Niul Manske will be inducted as part of the 2022 class on Saturday night after recognition at Friday's home football game against Toledo Rogers. Drusbacky has been a long-serving social studies teacher and coach in the district. He's been honored for 50 years of service to the boys basketball program at PC. The Bob Arnzen Award, presented by the state basketball coaches association, was presented to Drusbacky for his longevity. Drusbacky spent time at Port Clinton as the head football coach and as interim head boys basketball coach. Beck Carvalho played tennis at Port Clinton from 2006-09. She concluded her career with 121 wins, tied for the most in program history. She qualified for the state tournament all four years of high school and won multiple SBC championships. Beck Carvalho went on to play at Tiffin University, where she compiled 120 wins, including 75 at doubles. Reynolds swam and participated in track and field for Port Clinton. She was a member of multiple state-qualifying swim relays in 2010 and 2011 and earned All-Ohio honors both years. Reynolds threw for PC in field events. In her senior spring of 2011, she was state runner-up in the discus. Reynolds continued both sports at Bowling Green. Hunt lettered four years for PC's golf team. As a junior and senior, he was SBC Player of the Year, and he made first-team All-SBC for three seasons. In his junior and senior seasons, Hunt won sectional medals. He made the state tournament as a junior in fall 2008, finishing 27th out of 72 golfers. Hunt went on to golf at Findlay, where he left the school with the sixth-lowest scoring average in school history. Manske earned a total of eight varsity letters at Port Clinton in cross country, swimming and track and field. He was a member of the 1991 SBC champion cross country team and also won an SBC title in the 1600-meter run. Manske became part of PC's school record in the 200-meter freestyle relay. After graduation, Manske attended Trinity University, where he was all-conference in both cross country and track and field while setting the school's 1500-meter run record. Manske became a pentathlete after his college career. He won the 2006 Pan American Games in the pentathlon and was at one point ranked No. 1 in the United States. The Hall of Fame induction dinner will take place Saturday at the Port Clinton Elks Lodge with dinner starting at 5 p.m.
