Seahawks place Cody Thompson on injured reserve

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks have placed Cody Thompson on injured reserve after the Huron graduate was injured in last Saturday's exhibition game in Pittsburgh. Thompson played just seven offensive snaps before suffering a shoulder injury. Thompson, 26, played in five games for Seattle in 2021. He'll now have to sit out the entire regular season unless he can reach an injury settlement with the Seahawks, according to RotoWire. Thompson, who is in his fourth season in the NFL, was competing for a spot on the Seahawks' 53-man roster. He expressed confidence that he would make the team in an interview last month with the Register. "I'm living out my dream. I'm going to give it my all until my body gives out," Thompson said. "I'm used to the grind and this is no different." Thompson played 47 snaps for the Seahawks in 2021 and recovered a fumble in a Week 18 win at Arizona. After last season he signed a reserve/future contract to stay with Seattle. Thompson, who starred at the University of Toledo before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2019, was having a strong training camp. He caught three passes for 43 yards and a touchdown in a mock game earlier this month.
