Don't set off fireworks — but, if you do, follow these rules

Adult supervision: Children should never be allowed to ignite or handle fireworks and should be supervised carefully if they are nearby.2. Read directions: All directions and warnings should be read and followed before handling fireworks.3. Never relight: Malfunctioning fireworks, ones that fizzle or won't ignite, should be doused in water and disposed of. Never attempt to relight.4. Water: Water should always be kept by to aid in disposal or in case of emergency. A bucket or garden hose is recommended.5. Location: Fireworks should be used exclusively outdoors and on a flat and level area away from homes, trees and people.6. Distance: Keep all people out of range when igniting.7. Move back: Fireworks should be set off one at a time, and no part of the body should be above the device when lighting.8. Never throw fireworks: Fireworks should never be thrown at people or animals.9. Correct disposal: Spent or malfunctioning fireworks should be soaked in water before disposal to prevent trash fires.10. Don't put them in your pocket: Pockets are no place for fireworks.
