Fremont company gets state support

FREMONT — In late July, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted announced the approval of financial assistance for seven statewide projects set to create 660 new jobs and retain 3,300 jobs, representing about $52 million in investments. This would include Motion Controls Robotics, often referred to as Motion Controls, in Fremont. A statement by the governor's office provided additional information: "Motion Controls expects to create 18 full-time positions, generating $1.2 million in new annual payroll and retaining $4.9 million in existing payroll as a result of the company's expansion project in Fremont." It continued: "Motion Controls manufactures robotic case packing, robotic palletizing and machine tending; large-scale, end-of-line robotic packaging and handling systems; vision-guided systems; robotic simulation; (other technological) systems; and intelligent robotic systems." The state's tax credit authority approved a 1.2%, six-year job creation tax credit for this project. Motion Controls, on its social media page, shared some commentary. "Our 2023 expansion will include a 25,500-square -foot building expansion, adding new, hi-tech job opportunities in Sandusky County," it reads. Once completed, the company, founded in 1995, will grow to a 90,000-square-foot facility "The robotics industry is seeing record-breaking sales due to the higher rate of adoption among all industries. Motion Controls Robotics, Inc. designs, builds and installs robot systems for the food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, and manufacturing industries," a company statement reads. "We are excited about the next 27 years."
