SANDUSKY • New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, at 1920 Eddy Henry Way, has Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and its worship service at 11 a.m. The church's Wednesday Bible study occurs at 6:30 p.m. only on Facebook. • First Congregational United Church of Christ, at 1158 Cleveland Road in the Sandusky Plaza, invites you to in-person worship for each Sunday at 10 a.m. Join us this weekend for a sermon from Rev. Lenore Kure entitled "Firestorm from Heaven." At 11:20 a.m., Rev. Lenore welcomes people to join her for devotions. Our Shoreline ministry also continues at the Shoreline Park Pavilion — rain or shine — at 8 a.m. Sundays. Each week, we will have a speaker deliver a message about "how the awesome love of God has impacted my life." We will also take up an offering at each service and the proceeds of such will go to the offering focus of the day. The movie tells the inspirational true story behind the band MercyMe's chart-topping song "I Can Only Imagine." The church invites local women to its monthly United Women in Faith meetings. PORT CLINTON • Trinity United Methodist Church, at 135 Adams St., has resumed outdoor worship at the Sutton Center in Port Clinton. MARBLEHEAD • Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, at 114 E. Main St. (Ohio 163), will host the 65th annual Halupki Festival on Sunday, Aug. 21. The Halupki Festival is a celebration of Carpatho-Russian foods and culture, and admission to the festival is free. The day's activities begin with worship at Divine Liturgy at the historic church at 9:30 a.m. The choir of SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Lorain will sing at Liturgy. The festival begins at 11:30 a.m. with the serving of their Carpatho-Russian dinner of two halupki, two perohi, kolbasi, and baklava for dessert. At 2 p.m., the Eastern European ala carte will open featuring halupki (cabbage rolls), perohi (pierogies), halushki (cabbage and noodles), kolbasi (smoked sausage), spanakopita (spinach pie) and much more. Delicious Old World-style baked goods, including nut and poppy seed rolls (kolach, or koh-LAHCH), as well as baklava, will be sold. Live entertainment starts at noon with polka music with the Frank Moravcik Band of Cleveland and the Ed Klimczak Band of Lorain alternating every hour throughout the afternoon. Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, the oldest Orthodox church in Ohio and a historic landmark, will be open with tours for visitors. Orthodox religious items will be for sale. Herman Halupki's Craft Fest, with 35+ vendors, will be on the lawn during the festival. Fun for the kids includes a bounce house, a rock wall for climbing and Silly Tilly the Clown doing face painting and making balloons. There is ample free parking within easy walking distance, and a shuttle bus will run between parking areas and the festival grounds.
