Check out Festival of Sail's food and entertainment

SANDUSKY — You won't be hungry or bored at the Festival of Sail. Craig Samborski, president of Draw Events who handles the logistics of the event, is eager to get to work. "For many vendors and us as event organizers, this will be one of the first times we have been back to work since the summer of 2019," he said. "There's a lot of excitement and anticipation from all of us, especially the vendors. I know the entertainers feel the same way." He detailed what food and entertainment options visitors can expect and enjoy: Food Six food/beverage vendors will be available at the festival. Food choices will include Americana, barbeque and southwestern cuisine. Visitors can look forward to feasting on a variety of burgers, wraps, gyros, chicken wings, french fries and more. Smoothie and Kona Ice vendors also will be on hand with refreshments. "We'll also have a beer tent featuring a menu from Platform Beer Co.," Samborski said. All but one of the food/beverage vendors are from north central Ohio. "I feel like we have a really nice variety of food and beverage for the event," Samborski said. Entertainment About 15 vendors offer arts, crafts, beauty products and jewelry. Crayon Kelly, an artist from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his artwork will be at the festival. A couple of his pieces have reflected a tall ship and the famous large inflatable duck set to appear at the Festival of Sail. Additional entertainment offerings feature sea shanty music to match the event's maritime theme. "Our close friend from Madison, Wisconsin, Tom Kastle, will be performing and emceeing at the event," Samborski said. "We also have the Hardtackers, an a capella sea shanty group from Columbus. We'll have Manny Burns doing a few DJ sets, too." Children will enjoy Michael Mage, a magician from Sandusky as well as an Ohio-based face painter and balloon artist. "Ginger Whimsy, a living statue from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be joining us, too," Samborski said. "All of the entertainers are really worth checking out. Crayon Kelly's work is also really cool to check out." Samborski made his pitch for families and locals to attend the iconic festival. "Our entertainment content, ships and vendors really fit the focus of this being a family event and make it really fun to check out," Samborski said. "Plus, the most joyful piece of the event, the World's Largest Rubber Duck."
