District's baseball all stars will play showcase at Sports Force

Some of the area's best senior baseball players will play one final game representing their high schools. The District 9 All-Star Games are Monday night at Sports Force Parks. There will be three games, with six teams total representing athletes from the following counties: Erie, Ottawa, Huron, Richland, Seneca, Hancock, Crawford, Wyandot, Sandusky, Wood, Lucas and Ashland. The action all starts at 7 p.m. at SFP across three fields. The Erie/Ottawa County team will take on Richland County. Seneca/Hancock County takes on Crawford/Wyandot County. And the Sandusky/Wood/Lucas County team will play the Huron/Ashland County squad. Huron's Dan Lindsley and St. Mary Central Catholic's Ryan Myers will coach the Erie/Ottawa team, which includes three members of Edison's state runner-up squad along with players from Huron, Margaretta, Perkins, SMCC, Sandusky, Vermilion, Port Clinton and Oak Harbor. Norwalk's Wes Douglas and Bellevue's Andy Dennings are in charge of the Huron County team, which also has players from St. Paul and South Central. Douglas will represent the Truckers one final time after announcing his retirement at the end of the spring season. Clyde's representatives will play on the Sandusky/Wood/Ashland County team, along with a few overflow players from Norwalk, Sandusky and Perkins. Tiffin Columbian and Calvert's players are part of the Seneca/Hancock County team. Last year, the Erie/Ottawa all stars beat the Huron/Ashland all stars, 7-1.
