Fight breaks out at Sports Center

SANDUSKY — A basketball game at the Cedar Point Sports Center ended in the arrest of an 18-year-old who allegedly started throwing punches at rival players. Sandusky police were dispatched to the sports complex on Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) just before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday for a commotion at a basketball game. According to a police report, a player had been knocked to the ground sparking a confrontation between the opposing teams. Police said an 18-year-old was the prime instigator when they started throwing punches at the competition, the report states. Police cleared the court and ordered one team to leave the property while the other team waited in the gym. The 18-year-old refused to give police his name and allegedly clenched his wrists together as they attempted to cuff him. Eventually, the man's mother was called who confirmed his name and age, and he was taken to Erie County Jail on misdemeanor charges of president disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and failure to disclose personal information.
