Ohio Bike Week exceeded all expectations

"Magical." That is word several Sandusky residents have used to describe the 2022 Ohio Bike Week festivities. In the weeks leading up to this event, I was optimistic about the participants' conduct, the attention to detail by the organizers and the respect that I knew our city could garner. I spent two nights on the last weekend of Ohio Bike Week in downtown Sandusky with my wife, family and friends. My expectations were blown away. Ohio Bike Week's participants were remarkably respectful of the city, interested in the new development and offerings of Sandusky, entranced by the Jackson Street Pier and resolved to return, both as bikers and as tourists. The feeling I got while listening to live music overlooking Sandusky Bay on the Jackson Street Pier was truly nothing short of magical. Yet, it didn't stop there. The Hogrefe Building Courtyard was bustling with excitement, and "Elvis" even made an appearance at Paddle & Climb while we were there. On Sunday, I drove through downtown to see the state of the pier and the streets after such a large event had culminated. Ohio Bike Week staff had kept their promise to leave the city clean and intact. To all who were involved or who attended Ohio Bike Week, thank you for honoring your commitment to Sandusky. Thank you for infusing Sandusky with an exciting, fun and, dare I say, "magical" week showcasing the waterfront and downtown amenities that make our city a unique and spectacular place, not only for residents but for all who travel here for any reason.
