A rockin' block party

SANDUSKY — A rock 'n' roll wall of sound entertained thousands on Friday during the block party. English-born rocker Lita Ford sang her hit songs at the Progressive Insurance Main Stage at Jackson Street Pier. With Sandusky Bay as a backdrop, she performed for more than 1,000 cheering fans at the pier. Friday, the second day of the downtown block party, provided all the things most would expect from a motorcycle rally: festival food, diverse vendors, live music and people from all walks of life. The music Rock group The Michael Weber Show opened for Ford at the main stage. Weber won the "Amazingness" talent show on MTV in 2018. The Scott Gast Memorial Stage at Barrel House hosted performances from CLE Rocks and Terry Davidson and the Gears. Perennial fan-favorite Jasmine Cain rocked the stage inside the Barrel House Saloon. Old Skool, a group specializing in golden age hip hop, rhythm & blues and dance hits, closed the night of live entertainment at Barrel House. A safe event Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver reported only two arrests at the block party on Thursday. Both arrests were for disorderly conduct. Four teams of two officers each patrolled the event. Bike Week staff maintained checkpoints at the borders of the block party. They ensured only authorized vehicles got in and prevented alcoholic beverages from being brought into the block party or taken out of it. Parade The George Roeder Memorial Parade occurs Saturday. The parade is an integral part of Ohio Bike Week. Hundreds of bikes stream into downtown Sandusky each year during this ride. Registration for the 16-mile ride starts at 10 a.m. at Roeder Racing in Monroeville. The participation fee for the ride is $10 per bike.
