The Erie-Ottawa International Airport is the largest airport between Toledo and Cleveland and has served planes, passengers and cargo for over 90 years. Thanks to the mutual partnership between Erie and Ottawa counties over the last 55 years, the Erie-Ottawa International Airport has grown to be a key transportation and economic asset to our region. With a positive economic impact to our area greater than $18 million annually, it directly or indirectly supports over 198 jobs. As part of its mission, the airport serves to connect our community to the world as a hub for aviation enthusiasts, an educational and historical community cornerstone, a gateway for business, tourism and sightseeing — and a vital lifeline to the Lake Erie Islands during the icy winter months. The airport's infrastructure and the services it offers truly make it a 24-hour, all-weather, and year-round aviation destination. Its mile of runways truly connects our community to the world: • The airport consists of two runways. • The primary runway is oriented east-west and is just over 5,600 feet long. • The secondary runway is oriented north-south and is just over 4,000 feet long. • Both runways are serviced by parallel taxiways leading to over 130,000 square feet of hard-surfaced ramp area making maneuvering an airplane a breeze. • The airport maintains over 4.8 miles of lighted runways and taxiways and 170 acres of property, as well as both 100LL and Jet A aviation fuels available for self-service and full-service fueling. Our friendly and experienced staff are available to meet your needs during normal business hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days per week or after hours for a nominal fee. Whether you need fuel or a solid local recommendation, the airport staff are always ready to help visitors and tenants make the most of their experience in our incredible community. In addition to the paved infrastructure and lighting, Erie-Ottawa International Airport also maintains several critical assets to enhance safety and accessibility. Our Automated Weather Observation System allows anyone to get real-time weather conditions from instruments located directly on the airfield. To assist pilots in locating and landing at the airport, we maintain both a non-directional beacon for use with a radio transceiver as well as a precision global positioning system (GPS) approach. The GPS approach is used with the latest computerized airplane navigation equipment to allow those equipped aircraft to land in less-than-ideal weather conditions safely. As an international airport, the Erie-Ottawa International Airport proudly partners with U.S. Customs who operate out of a dedicated facility on the field and adjacent to the terminal building. Our runways and taxiways allow direct access to the Liberty Aviation Museum & Tin Goose Diner, a local gem for both history and great food. During the summer months, the airport is host to several fly-in and drive-in events providing fun for the whole family.
