Map: Ohio Bike Week's downtown street closures

SANDUSKY — Because of all the two-wheeled vehicles in town, Sandusky officials need to make sure commuters cruising on four wheels, or more, stay out of certain areas this week. As in years past, ahead of and during Ohio Bike Week's block party portion in downtown Sandusky, crews must cordon off roads, allowing for pedestrians and motorcyclists to access these areas. "The Ohio Bike Week event area is concentrated along Shoreline Drive and the Jackson Street Pier, but there will be additional street closures throughout downtown during the week," city communications manager Tom Horsman said. "These streets will be primarily used for bike parking," Horsman added, noting people can visit cityofsandusky.com/bikeweek for the most up-to-date information on street closures. Here's a look at the impacted areas: 8 a.m. Wednesday until Sunday A parking ban is in effect for: • Jackson Street Pier • Shoreline Drive between Jackson and Wayne streets 1 p.m. Thursday until Sunday morning A parking ban and no through traffic is in effect for: • 100 block of E. Water St. • 100 block of W. Water St. • 100 block of Columbus Ave. • Jackson Street parking lot • East Water Street parking lot Noon Friday parking ban/4 p.m Friday through traffic ban until Sunday morning • 100 block of E. Market St. • 100 block of W. Market St. • 200 block of Columbus Ave • East Washington Row • West Washington Row Saturday The following streets will possibly be closed: • Washington Street (U.S. 6) between Wayne and Jackson streets • Columbus Avenue between Washington and Adams streets Other notes • Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the event area. • The northern portion of the Jackson Street Pier will be ticketed access from noon on Thursday through noon on Sunday, but the remainder of the pier will be open to all pedestrians throughout the event.
