Huron High School Class of 2022 inspires hope

HURON — Huron High School said farewell to more than 100 graduating seniors Friday evening. The graduating class of 2022 finally had the chance to toss their caps into the air after four years of various achievements — academic, athletic and more. Huron High School celebrated graduation on Friday in the high school gym, sending off 107 seniors. The ceremony, originally meant to take place at Memorial Stadium, was moved inside by rain but that did not dim anyone's spirits. Bryce Nevison, student body president, shared his three rules for happiness with the graduating class. "Constantly practice radical empathy, always be kind. Imperfection is perfection," Nevison said. "And to quote Ferris Bueller, 'If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.' Enjoy yourself with whatever time we have." Class speaker Sean Kaminski thanked the parents for all of the sacrifices they've made over the years. Graduate Chloe Pfeiffer said the students' families pushed them to continue to grow, even after success. "Life can change in a matter of hours," graduate Pearson Keller said. "You should always leave loved ones with loving words." Principal Tim Lamb said the class of 2022 gives him hope. "Today reminds me of the goodness of Huron. Seeing goodness right now can be difficult with so many senseless tragedies," Lamb said. "Yet I have hope because as we celebrate the accomplishment of these students, they will probably do a better job of solving the problems facing us. This class gives me hope because they're already practicing radical empathy." Lamb said the graduates are "wildly talented" and will go on to fundamentally change perspectives in the world.
