Diva Lashes gets new look

HURON — A salon specializing in eyelash extensions recently enlarged its space to ensure trained professionals could provide extensive beauty services. Not too long ago, Diva Lashes by Maggie & Spa — owned and operated by Maggie Longer — doubled in size at its home base, 607 Main St. in Huron. The business is located in the Lucky Stone Uniform's building, on the second floor, by the railroad crossing. With help from her husband, Christian Patino, Longer upgraded the entire area to better accommodate her rapidly growing customer base. Longer also hired her company's first employee, licensed esthetician Julianna Ruiz, who recently graduated from EHOVE Career Center. She can perform many of the salon's newest services, such as those relating to skincare, body waxing and massage. This only adds to Diva's pre-existing list of services, consisting of eyelash extensions, facials, skin treatments and more. Over the past few months, Longer traveled to Miami, where she enrolled in and graduated from a prestigious program focusing on eyelashes. She's now considered a master lash artist. "I'm proud to say I'm the only person in the area who is a certified master lash artist and not just a standard lash technician," said Longer, who's proficient in styles ranging from classic to hybrid, mega volume and Russian, among others. Then, earlier this year, she created an eyelash extension course to pass on her knowledge with others also aspiring for a beauty-related career. "My goal with this training is not only to show my students how to do lashes but to also show them the process, my techniques, my tips, tricks and how to have the right mindset in order to be a successful lash artist so that they can eventually become their own boss," she said. All of the services offered by Diva Lashes aim to make a person feel and look better, Longer said. She encourages people — especially those with skin issues like acne, dryness, oiliness, redness and eczema — to visit her. "It's important to take care of your skin," Longer said.
