SANDUSKY — The 237-room resort and indoor water park known as Castaway Bay will accept guests starting May 6 following an extensive refurbishment. Every corner of the facility has been remodeled, and now new characters tell the story of Castaway Bay at Cedar Point. Guests will meet Gordy the turtle and his friends Hank, Rocket and Flo throughout the resort and tropical-themed indoor water park owned and operated by Cedar Fair, the parent company of Cedar Point. The Castaway Bay story tells the tales of the exotic animals that lived on an abandoned island. Upon seeking adventure and traveling to other islands with his friends, Gordy became homesick and decided to build his own tropical getaway, Castaway Bay. New guest rooms and suites are themed to "land, sea and air" and tell the story of Castaway Bay. • Rooms on the first floor are themed to air, where Flo, Scoops and friends show guests adventures that await when looking up. • The second floor is themed to land. Hank and Rocket (sloth) take guests on a journey, exploring the jungle. • Lastly, the third and fourth floors are themed to the sea. Gordy and Ophelia show guests the fun of living with the sea. Guests staying at Castaway Bay get access to the 38,000-square-foot indoor water park, which includes 10 water slides and a 100,000-gallon wave pool. Who's hungry? In addition, the remodeled Castaway Bay will debut all-new dining facilities. • High Tide Café, located off the lobby, will feature a breakfast buffet and future character breakfast encounters. • Also near the lobby will be a new Rocket's Market and Sprinkle Shack. Rocket's will cater to quick grab-and-go breakfast items and Starbucks. • Sprinkle Shack will feature Toft Dairy soft-serve ice cream and other frozen treats. • Inside the water park, guests will now find Surfside Beach Bar. Offering signature cocktails, local craft beers and frozen drinks with a variety of hot meals including pizza and sandwiches. • In addition, guests can also walk over to the attached Quaker Steak and Lube. This and that For guests looking for some land-based fun, the 6,000-square-foot arcade has been remodeled, too, now featuring a new escape room. The arcade area also features blacklight mini golf, mini bowling and, of course, a variety of video and redemption games. For guests staying at Castaway Bay, other Cedar Point resorts or visiting the parks, all properties are now cashless. Credit card, debit card or smart devices with Apple Pay or Google Pay are the preferred payment methods. For guests who do have cash, kiosks are provided on-site for conversion into a prepaid debit card. Room rates start at $149 with discounts available for season passholders. Guests staying at Castaway Bay have the option to also purchase vacation packages that include discount tickets to Cedar Point, free parking, early entry and free fountain beverages. The remodeled Castaway Bay Resort joins the family of Cedar Point properties including Hotel Breakers, Express Hotel, Lighthouse Point and Sawmill Creek Resort, scheduled to open June 13.
