What can you expect to see at the former Wicked Twister midway?

SANDUSKY — When guests return through the gates of Cedar Point on opening weekend, May 7, they can expect to see quite a different perspective in 2022. For starters, Wicked Twister was removed during the off-season, opening up a large expanse of property out to the Cedar Point beach. While some reusable parts from Wicked Twister were sent to sister Cedar Fair parks Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Valleyfair in Shakopee, Minnesota, some of the track was cut up and mounted for guests to purchase. Only 1,000 pieces were created at a price point of $215 each. A small allocation will be available when the park opens since many pieces were pre-sold during off-season events and online via the park's website. The question now remains what will become of this big void in the landscape? Following the 2017 season, the former Oceana Stadium was removed during the off-season. Combined with the Wicked Twister area, a rather large plot of land has been opened up for redevelopment. No one from the public has seen the Wicked Twister midway since February during the annual Winter Chillout event where the park raises money for charity in exchange for a peek into the off-season projects. At that point, the roller coaster had been completely removed, and clean-up work was in progress. Now this past week, some close observation of the park's webcams revealed the site of the former Oceana Stadium had a new construction fence around it. Just weeks ahead of the park's May opening, guests can anticipate the expansive area will be hidden behind the fence. At this point, just off-camera, the park could already be making below-grade improvements for what is to come. We also fully expect the fence to be a perfect canvas for the teasers to help predict what could be coming in 2023. Cedar Point got its last roller coaster in 2018 with the conversion of Mean Streak to Steel Vengeance. With the removal of Wicked Twister, and the closure of Top Thrill Dragster for 2022, Cedar Point now only offers 15 roller coasters. With prime real estate and some gaps in the roller coaster lineup, the future is looking bright for some new wicked adventures.
