Get your fill of Fire Rock Pizza

PERKINS TWP. — Here's the foundation for Fire Rock Pizza as explained by owner Kevin Thomas. "We make our food with quality, locally sourced ingredients with our own dough and our own sauce," said Thomas, a U.S. Army veteran. "You and your family will enjoy what we have on our menu. Trust me, the food is amazing." Thomas recently opened his new business on Crossings Road in a plaza between Panera Bread and Kohl's off Milan Road (U.S. 250). Pizza Boys previously occupied this Perkins Township storefront. Fire Rock opens for lunch and dinner seven days a week with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays. What separates Fire Rock from other similar eateries circles back to pie preparation, Thomas said. "All of our pizzas are made in our brick oven," Thomas said. "Every single thing that goes in there is manually watched versus just putting toppings on something and sending it through an automatic belt. What we do, it's an art form. It's way better than your run-of-the-mill average pizza place." Beyond pizzas — they come in traditional forms along with several specialty combinations including Margherita and buffalo chicken — Fire Rock also offers subs, wings, salads and desserts. "We truly care about what we make," said Thomas, who previously owned and sold Horts Bar & Grill in Sandusky to pursue this newest venture. Thomas looks forward to bringing his family — wife, Michalea; and their three young children, Brody, Elise and Lincoln — into the fold. They'll all eat and, at times, help when needed. "I want to be here for the long haul," Thomas said. "I do want to be here for decades and then, one day, give this to my kids."
