Report: Man assaults pregnant woman

VERMILION — A 30-year-old man was charged with a felony domestic violence offense after he allegedly attacked a pregnant woman. Vermilion resident Justin A. Reed was arrested by Erie County sheriff's deputies on Sunday morning and charged with felony domestic violence and misdemeanor obstructing official business. The domestic violence charge was elevated to a felony because the victim is pregnant. Reed is accused of assaulting two women in their home. Just after 11 a.m., Erie County deputies were called to the first block of Coral Drive for a domestic incident. The alleged victim told the dispatcher Reed had assaulted her, threatened her dog and was throwing things around the home, according to a sheriff's report. According to a police report, Reed was confrontational with deputies when they arrived at the house. He allegedly told them nothing happened and ordered them to leave, the report says. Justin denied attacking the women. One woman also told the deputies the argument was strictly verbal. Deputies spoke with the victim, who told them Reed began screaming and throwing dishes and appliances for an unknown reason. During the incident, he allegedly threatened to kill the victim's dog and shoved her in her torso, the report says. The victim told deputies she is pregnant and Reed knew this. The pregnant woman said Reed allegedly shoved the other woman multiple times as well, the report states. Reed allegedly left the home but was arrested near Sherod Park later that day. As of Monday evening, Reed is jailed at Erie County Jail on a no-bond order.
