Spy Report to stage all-star games at Cedar Point Sports Center

SANDUSKY — The first Spy Report All-Star Event will feature some of the best senior basketball players in the area, and the hope is that the games include more than matador defense and a bunch of circus shots. Spy Report founder Jake Meisler wants to see some serious basketball when the players take the court on Thursday at Cedar Point Sports Center. "My goal is not to make it a lackluster all-star game," Meisler said. "I hope the players come out and get after it." Meisler is the founder of Spy Report, which touts the achievements of Northwest Ohio basketball players on social media. He's also the founder of the Ohio Buckets AAU program and is an assistant coach at Margaretta. The all-star games, which will feature 24 area girls and 24 area boys on CPSC's show court, will draw coaches from the NCAA Division II and III levels as well as NAIA. "I thought it would be a good thing to pull top players from not only the SBC but other conferences," Meisler said. "It's a wider reach and it will be a nice last hurrah for the 2022 kids." Five conferences will be represented at the games: Sandusky Bay Conference, Firelands, Northern Buckeye, Northern 10 and Mid-Ohio. OH Report is planning to cover the game and livestream the event on its YouTube channel. BCSN also will cover the games. The girls will take the court at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 8 p.m.. Tickets are $10 at the door. Among the boys who have committed to play are Margaretta's Jake Leibacher and Nathan Schaefer, Willard's Trey Paxton, Norwalk's Ian Minor, Monroeville's Isaac Roeder, Bellevue's Ryan Mohr, Huron's Tait Fischer, Port Clinton's Tyler Webb, Oak Harbor's TJ Hallett and Clyde's Jaden Cook and Kaiden Olson. Among the area athletes slated to play are Kristen Harrah (Clyde), Miah Miller (Margaretta), Kelley Baker (Perkins), Lindsay Roberts (Edison), Olivia Baker (Shelby) and Isabelle Duchette (Western Reserve). Final rosters will be set this week. Sponsors include Maumee Bay Turf, Sandusky Steel, Friendship Food Stores and Ace Lawn Care. Meisler's Spy Report is active on Twitter and other social media platforms. He said it fills a need. "I felt our market was shorted with the recruiting side of it and getting kids exposure," he said.
