Police: Woman gets OVI after huffing

SANDUSKY — A woman caused an accident in Sandusky after allegedly huffing an air duster. A 52-year-old woman from Idaho was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence on Monday morning. She was allegedly high on duster fumes and lost control of her car, crashing into another vehicle. According to a police report, just before 8 a.m., Sandusky police were called to the intersection of Shelby and Washington (U.S. 6) streets for a car crash. The woman was traveling on Tiffin Avenue and failed to follow the curve, the report read. She drove straight over the curb, into an oncoming lane, and hit another car. A witness told police the woman appeared high and was laughing. She allegedly accused the other driver of causing the wreck and then attempted to leave the scene. The woman allegedly told police she "must have blacked out," the report states. During a search of the car, officers found an opened and used compressed gas duster in the driver's side door. The witness said she saw the woman holding the air duster when she crashed. The woman was arrested and charged with OVI, abusing harmful intoxicants and failure to control a motor vehicle.
