Send message to parole board

It makes no difference — no difference whatsoever — whether or not the convicted killer and serial rapist Dennis Dussell tried to escape from prison six years ago. It should not be difficult for the Ohio Parole Board to figure out why it doesn't matter and doesn't matter at all. But we'll spell it out — on behalf of the families of his victims and on behalf of everyone who remembers Jodi Auble, the Huron school girl he killed in 1974: It makes no difference because Dennis Dussell is a killer and a sadistic rapist. Dussell already was paroled once, in 1984, after he killed Auble. He served just nine years despite being given a life sentence for murder. Once released, he began a crime spree that lasted for years before he was convicted and imprisoned again, in 1990, on rape and other sex crime and violence convictions. Dussell had a parole hearing last year and was denied parole, rightfully, in our view. But, apparently because of a technicality regarding a conviction for planned prison escape Dussell was involved in in 2016, and new information about that, he will get a new parole hearing next month. But it does not matter. It makes no difference. It should not be considered. For the good of society, for humanity, for families and for decent people everywhere, Dennis Dussell should remain in prison for the rest of his life. He should die in prison, never seeing the true light of day, again. This is just common sense and we'd like to think it is a foregone conclusion. We'd like to think it is just a technicality, a formality that he's even getting another hearing. But we should not assume and the public should not assume.
