Meet Healing Trails owner Kendra Didion

My name is Kendra Didion, and I am the owner and operator of Healing Trails, LLC established in 2003 in Castalia. I am an independent social worker, licensed independent chemical dependency counselor and EAGALA certified in equine-assisted psychotherapy. Healing Trails is an outpatient facility that treats children, teens, adults and families as a whole dealing with mental health and addiction issues. Our mission statement is to offer the opportunity to experience self-awareness, growth and wholeness in a natural environment. We sit on 24-acres of land that provides a very unique setting incorporating nature and horses in the healing process along with the typical in-office setting. We utilize these components to help create a safe and comfortable environment for people from all walks of life to actively take part in their journey toward self-healing. Horses naturally help bring about a calming experience that allows for people to enter a state of mind that encourages and allows for positive progress in therapy. By exposing people to nature and the majestic presence of horses, we are able to help them cope with their trauma in this powerful form. Equine-assisted psychotherapy incorporates clinical skills of a licensed mental health professional combined with those of an equine specialist — someone trained to work with horses — to create a unique healing experience. EAP addresses a variety of mental health and human development needs including behavioral issues, attention deficit disorder, substance abuse/dependency, eating disorders, abuse issues, trauma issues, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and communications needs through a metaphorical perspective.
