Local musician reaches platinum status

FREMONT — He's thankful a million times over for his latest, and most impressive, career musical accolade to date. Eric Conley, who goes under the performance name of Snoozegod, recently received notification a song he helped create — "i miss the old u" — surpassed 1 million singles sold. In other words, his record reached platinum status. Conley, a Sandusky native and Fremont resident, co-wrote this song and its album, "Digital Druglord," with his best friend and recording artist blackbear, who performs the single. This album's name plays off their astute abilities to get certain topics trending on social media. "Honestly, this means the most to me because I get shouted out on the song, and I wrote it with my best friend, fully organic, and the fans played it so much," Conley said. "It's a top-five blackbear song." The recognition piggybacks off this song achieving gold status, or 500,000 sales, in 2020. Conley's pleased with the accolades, but there's still more to do. "I'm really working hard, behind the scenes, to start my own label and sign artists and work on my own projects," said Conley, who splits his time between Ohio and Los Angeles. "I've been in talks with (a distribution platform and music sharing companies.)" Though his ultimate goal doesn't relate to fame, glory or success for himself. "I really want to change lives and impact people and spread positivity," he said.
