EHOVE principal promoted

MILAN TWP. — A longtime vocational school leader will assume a new role later this year. EHOVE Career Center board members recently promoted high school principal Erika Beckman to assistant superintendent, effective Aug. 1. Her two-year contract lasts through July 2024. Beckman has been the vocational school's high school principal for seven years. "Erika has been an invaluable member of our leadership team and always strives to do her best for our students, staff and community," EHOVE superintendent Chris McCully said. He explained why Beckman was promoted. "With the upcoming retirement of a high school administrator, there is an opportunity for EHOVE to restructure the administrative team," he said. "Rather than filling the soon-to-be-vacated high school position, the new role of assistant superintendent was created to benefit the entire campus. "With adult education enrollment of full-time students approaching 600 students and high school enrollment of over 800 students, EHOVE needs to continue to adapt and evolve as our population grows. This new position's responsibilities will include primarily human resources and central office duties to support both adult education and the high school, all of which will increase efficiency and consistency." Beckman's contract stipulates her salary totals $112,500, McCully said. Bio blast Beckman started at EHOVE as assistant director in 2010 and later became its high school principal in 2015. "EHOVE has a wonderful, caring staff that continues to be innovative, and can adapt and evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our students and the community," she said. "I am proud to continue to be a part of the EHOVE team." Beckman has decades of career tech experience. Before coming to EHOVE, she taught tech prep computer-aided design for six years at The Tech Center in Fremont and courses at Terra State Community College. She gained industry experience working at ThyssenKrupp Atlas in Fostoria as a process analyst in the engineering department and as information technology specialist focusing on materials management and production planning. A Seneca East High School graduate, Beckman attended Sentinel Career Center for computer-aided drafting. She also earned a master's degree in education from the University of Toledo, a bachelor's degree in technology from Bowling Green State University and an associate of applied science in mechanical engineering/CAD/CAM from Terra State Community College and Beckman also has principal and superintendent licenses from the University of Findlay, McCully said. Beckman and her husband of 22 years, Josh, have two daughters, Andra and Erin. They manage a hog facility on their property, where Beckman handles the bookwork for the operation as well as the farmland. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family camping, boating or even at home with the family's two dogs. McCully said EHOVE is searching for Beckman's replacement, which should finish by May 1. Reach reporter Caitlin Nearhood at nearhood@sanduskyregister.com and follow her on Twitter @CaitlinNearhood
