Sandusky treasurer leaves for bank job

SANDUSKY — Sandusky Schools needs to replace another top administrator this school year. Treasurer Jeff Hall left his post Friday to take a position with J.P. Morgan Chase Wealth Management, district board members said Monday. He was hired in June 2020 on a two-year contract and succeeded Gina Deppert, who retired in December 2019. "Mr. Hall was a valued member of the senior leadership team whose two-year contract was concluding," board members said in a joint statement. Details about Sandusky Schools' treasurer search have yet to be announced. Hall boasts experience in both the public and private sectors. Before becoming Sandusky Schools' treasurer, he most recently worked as a strategic relationship manager at Equitable Advisors LLC., a private-sector financial firm. In recent years, he also served as treasurer of Brecksville-Broadview Heights Schools, where he led the district's finance committee during a successful bond issue campaign to build a new elementary school, according to cleveland.com. Hall and his team also earned Auditor of State awards for clean financial audits. Other past experience includes serving as vice president of private wealth management at Citizens Bank, executive director of corporate development at Cuyahoga Community College, vice president and certified wealth manager at First Merit Bank and managing director of private client group at US Bank. The district's assistant treasurer, Yvonne Anderson, will serve as interim treasurer until a new treasurer is hired. Anderson was also interim treasurer before Hall was hired in 2020. Superintendent search The Ohio School Boards Association is assisting Sandusky Schools with its superintendent search before longtime leader Eugene Sanders' retirement. With the application deadline closed, board members will likely screen all candidates on Feb. 10. Next week, the first round of interviews is expected to take place and the second round will happen around Feb. 24. A third round of interviews may occur before the new superintendent is chosen. Sanders, a 1976 Sandusky High School graduate, will retire July 31 after a decade of leading Sandusky Schools. During his 42-year career, he's worked as a teacher, high school principal, college professor, consultant and superintendent. "This experience over the last 10 years in my hometown has been amazing," Sanders said during a virtual public forum on Jan. 26. "Everyday I wake up questioning whether or not it was a good idea to retire, but I'm so grateful and appreciative of the support our team has received over the last decade, starting with our board and community. We want to make sure our next steps are important and that we follow through with transparency."
