Amelia "Amy" Bliss

BERLIN HEIGHTS — Amelia "Amy" Bliss, 72, of Berlin Heights, passed away on Jan. 18, 2022, at Gaymont Nursing Home. Amelia, daughter of the late Forest "Bud" and Frances (Boyer) Bliss, was born on Jan. 21, 1949, in Fremont, Ohio, and attended Fremont Schools. She graduated from Fremont Ross in 1967. Because her family could not afford to send her to college, Amy worked many jobs to put herself through BGSU, graduating in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in education. For three years, Amelia taught in Cleveland. She then started teaching special education at Berlin-Milan Middle School. She loved the students, faculty and the community. She retired in 2001 and started to provide tutoring, which she was doing until the pandemic started in 2020. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were two sisters, Patricia (Thomas) Egan and Nancy (Jack) Ross. Surviving are her sisters, Mary and Barbara of Berlin Heights and Maida of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, John (Lynn) Bliss of Corona, California; and four nieces and nephews. Also surviving are those part of Amelia's Friday Night Ladies Dinner Group and her friends at St. John's Lutheran Church. She loved singing in the choir, often having solos in the summer. Per Amelia's wishes, there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will occur at a later date along with burial at McGormley Cemetery in Ballville, Ohio.
