Remembering Trinidy

SANDUSKY — Trinidy Jones' family had a candlelight vigil in her honor on Friday, Jan. 14, outside of her mother's apartment complex on Pioneer Trail. Jones, 24, was killed in her Aspen Run Road home on Jan. 5. A coroner determined she was shot twice and ruled the death a homicide. "She deserves justice. We can't let her go in vain," her cousin Shamion Hall said. "Today is hard, but tomorrow will be even harder. We're trying to come together as a family and boost each other up for this day we're going to have tomorrow." Jones' funeral services will be on Saturday afternoon. "She was a great mom, sister, cousin, a friend. Her world was her kids. She didn't get to live enough of her life to figure out what she wanted to be yet," Hall said. "For her to be taken from her babies like that, they don't understand what's going on." Late Friday, Sandusky police identified a suspect in Jones' homicide. Police have a warrant out for Tevin Q. Latin, 26, of Sandusky, on one count of first-degree felony aggravated murder. Read more here: Murder suspect identified Another person, Mariah J. Crawford, 23, of Sandusky, was previously charged with third-degree felony obstructing justice for allegedly withholding information when speaking to detectives, the department previously told The Register. Jones has two children, a daughter and son, four and two years old. According to police, they were in the home when Jones was found. Hall said Friday evening's vigil was a way for those who loved Trinidy to "get together and show love and support in honor of her memory." "Hopefully, the more people that see us and see her, maybe someone will feel bad enough and turn the culprits in," she added. Hall said Jones was a mother before anything else and loved her children more than anything. "She was going to school, trying to figure out what she wanted to do, and she had lupus all the while," Hall said. "She was just a beautiful, beautiful person, from her smile to the twinkle in her eyes." Jones' obituary said she also enjoyed singing, shopping, being with family and traveling. "Trinidy loved her children with every inch of her soul and was willing to do anything she had to do to make sure they were happy," her obituary states. Hall said her cousin was very supportive of small business owners, purchasing from small businesses when she could and leaving reviews. Hall said a local business owner reached out to her, crediting Jones for her success in Sandusky. "She messaged me and said Trinidy rented from her all summer long. She wanted us to know all of the support and love she got from Trin," Hall said. "She said Trinidy brought her business to life in Sandusky." Jones' family has set up a fundraiser for funeral expenses and to assist with caring for her children. Hall said Jones supported everyone, including herself. "She was always there for me when I was going through something," she said. "That's just who she was, she wanted everybody to do okay in life."
