PREP ROUNDUP: Huron, Margaretta sweep Bay diving events

OAK HARBOR — Huron and Margaretta finished 1-2 in diving on the first night of the SBC swimming & diving championships. Huron's Max Wasiniak (410 points) and Joey Lenczyk (401.10) finished in the first two spots in the Bay Division boys competition. Kenna Stimmel (363.60) and Anna Gasser (342.40) took the top two spots for Margaretta among Bay Division girls. In the Lake Division, Port Clinton's Brigitte Schroeder (378.85) and Perkins' Kennedy Schnittker (329.55) took first and second. Perkins' Tre Leber won the Lake boys diving with 245.60 points. A total of 19 divers competed in the four divisions. The SBC championships conclude with swimming events Saturday at the Oak Harbor pool. GIRLS BASKETBALL Perkins 62, Oak Harbor 27 PERKINS TWP. — Perkins warmed up for its Saturday showdown at Bellevue with a 62-27 SBC crossover win over Oak Harbor. Ten Pirates scored, led by Kendall Zeiher's 14 points. Raegan Heck added 13. Oak Harbor (7-6) was led by Ryann Steinbrick, who finished with 10 points. The Pirates (11-3, 7-0 SBC Lake) can take a huge step toward clinching the division title with a win at Bellevue (10-3, 6-1). Sandusky's boys defeated Marion 2,569 to 2,521. Senior Trey Burris led the Streaks with scores of 232-279 for a medalist series of 511. Junior captain Zach Sennish added a 448 series (265-183) for the Blue Streaks (11-2). Marion's girls defeated Sandusky 1,947 to 1,785. Freshman Jady Voegle led the Streaks (10-3) with 195-194--389. Dessa Dante had a 328 series (190-138). Sandusky takes on Perkins next Wednesday.
