Man points gun during argument

SANDUSKY — An argument over a parked car escalated quickly when a firearm was wielded. Sandusky police were called to Ging Street around 11:30 a.m. Monday for a man who said another man had pulled a gun on him and his wife. When officers arrived, the man told them his wife asked a man to move his car as it was allegedly blocking his driveway. The man said the driver became argumentative and swore at his wife, according to a police report. The two men started yelling at each other in the street, when the driver put a pistol on his bumper, the caller said. The caller told police that the driver raised the gun to him when he approached to fight, a witness told police he also saw the driver point the gun directly at the man. When police talked to the driver, he admitted to swearing at the woman and arguing with the man, the report states. He said he picked up his gun but told police he never pointed the gun at him. Officers confirmed that the driver had a CCW. They determined his actions to be excessive and unwarranted since there was no threat of serious physical harm when he brandished his weapon. The driver was charged with aggravated menacing and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, and his firearm was confiscated and turned over the sheriff's office. The caller received a disorderly conduct charge, also a misdemeanor.
