Dentists to maintain family-first feeling

PERKINS TWP. — They'll still pull teeth, among many other services, but won't push away their patients who expect family-first care. After all, it's in their business name. Dr. Robert "Bob" Jarus, who owns Family Dentistry of Sandusky, and Dr. Bill Semans, his associate and its former owner, recently relocated their offices from East Adams and Hancock streets in Sandusky to 2540 Columbus Ave. behind Kroger in Perkins Township. It's the same building once occupied by the late Dr. Daniel Kaser. "It's a larger space that provides off-street parking and wheelchair accessibility, which we did not have before," said Jarus, noting Family Dentistry's practice accepts new patients. Among its services: restorative dentistry, orthodontics, implant dentistry and endodontics, which include root canals. Jarus and Semans not only brought over their patients from the former building but also accepted everyone seeing Kaser. The existing phone numbers for both Dr. Semans and Dr. Kaser will ring into this new office. "We were also able to keep all the workers from both offices," said Semans, referencing the dental assistants, hygienists and front desk personnel. Jarus then wanted to stress an important point to both new and existing patients. "This is a private family practice. It's not corporate. It's always been that way with Dr. Semans and myself and was with Dr. Kaser, and that is how it will stay," Jarus said. "We will incorporate some modern technology and upgrade some of the ways we do things, but we will still maintain that family feeling here." Semans, one of Sandusky's most renowned dentists for decades, is semi-retired but made it a priority to help Jarus during this relocation process. "This is truly a win-win for Bob, who's able to buy a couple of really nice practices and acquire a better dental facility for the patients involved," said Semans, who intends on still seeing some patients himself there.
