James Patrick Bork

HURON — James Patrick Bork, 71, Huron, passed away peacefully on Oct. 28, 2021, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, surrounded by his family. Born on Sept. 4, 1950, in Toledo, Jim was one of eight siblings to the late Murland and Rosemary Bork. He was also a graduate from Huron High School. Jim (a.k.a. Meatball) worked as a signal maintainer for the railroad for 30 years, retiring in 2010. He was a loving and devoted family man, through and through, and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandkids, his little pumpkin seeds he called them. His silly jokes and enormous sense of humor was adored and loved by everyone around him. Jim was a huge Ohio sports fan and loved to cheer on the Buckeyes, Browns and Cavs. He loved decorating for Halloween every year and scaring the neighborhood kids. His favorite hobby of all was jamming out to Jimi Hendrix and Joe Cocker while playing his infamous air guitar. He is survived by the love of his life, Geraldine Bork (Ashe); his three children, Alicia (Von) Alvarado of Dublin, Nicole (Matt) Weltle of Huron and Andrew (Lauren) Bork of Huron; eight grandchildren, Caylen, Kendall, Carmen, Layla, Sophia, Avery, Griffin and Sullivan; brother-in-law, Ed Ashe of Collins; siblings, Michael (Karen) Bork, Jude Bork, Joellen (Dutch) Beckwith and Annie (Scott) Grunder; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Mary Sue Young, Kathy (Katie) McCabe and Thomas Bork. The family will be holding a Celebration of Life at a later date. Jim had a special love for children, his family asks that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
