'Mikes' win Milan Township race

MILAN TWP. — It was the "Mike and Mike" show in early returns in Milan Township, with incumbent Mike Shover and former trustee Michael Kegarise apparently on their way to victory. Another incumbent, Gerald Nickoli, appeared to be the odd man out in the contest for two available seats on the trustee board. Unofficial results Tuesday night for Erie County showed 521 votes for Kegarise, 519 for Shover and 424 for Nickoli. The two Michaels had campaigned together on a platform of restoring trust and transparency to the township's governance. "I am teaming up with former township trustee Mike Kegarise this election. Mike is a straight shooter and, as a former trustee, he possesses significant township leadership experience," Shover told the Register. "Together, I hope we can be successful and get Milan Township back on course again."
