Look out 'fore' Coastal Swing Golf & Bar

PERKINS TWP. — Even with their high standards, a new initiative is up to par with two entrepreneurs and golf enthusiasts. Dan Halley and Greg Kanis represent the co-owners of Coastal Swing Golf & Bar on East Strub Road beside Chet & Matt's Pizza in Perkins Township. It's set to debut soon with a grand opening taking place either on Oct. 30 or Nov. 6. For up-to-date information, people can visit Coastal Swing's social network pages. During the past few months, they've tirelessly worked to transform a former electronics repair store into a state-of-the-art, upscale indoor golf facility equipped with GOLFZON simulators. "They're unequivocally the best around," Halley said of the simulator company. At any one of Coastal's four simulators, people can approach a multi-surface area — where they can tee off or take shots from the rough or a sand trap — and hit the ball into a screen projecting a course. "You can play over 200 different courses, real courses, from around the world," said Halley, noting this would include Bethpage Black and Pebble Beach. "The technology is incredible. Once you step up, you feel like you're really on one of these courses." From amateurs to professionals, even complete novices can swing away. "It's great because it replicates a normal round of golf. You can effectively play 18 holes without leaning over one time," said Halley, pointing out how balls automatically tee themselves up every time. He also encourages guests to bring in their own clubs. "But there are different levels, and it can help beginners and challenge experts." This marks Coastal's second location. In 2019, Halley first unveiled their business concept with a location on Catawba Island. It's where Halley lives. And the expansion occurred in Perkins Township, where Kanis resides. "It was a natural next step," said Halley, adding how people shouldn't notice a huge difference in the play concept at either the Catawba or Perkins locations. The Perkins location, however, is nearly three times bigger compared to Coastal in Catawba. "I would get a lot of people from Sandusky and Huron and surrounding areas continually asking me 'When is Sandusky going to have a location?' To be opening a second location two years after the first one, I'm very proud and grateful of that." Halley emphasized how people can partake in leagues and tournaments. It'll also host lessons and club fittings. Additionally, customers can come in to fine-tune their shots and get in some swings year-round. "This is going to be great," Halley said. "We are ecstatic to be joining the Perkins Township and Sandusky communities. We're really looking forward to a lot of our Catawba guests being here, too." No matter playing golf, sipping on a cocktail or conversing with fellow golfers, Halley and Kanis strive for all guests to feel comfortable. "This will be an inviting environment," Halley said. "When you walk in, we want you to feel like you are home in a way."
