PREP ROUNDUP: Huron clinches Bay outright, gets 800th program win

OAK HARBOR — Huron had to work for it, but the Tigers are all alone atop the SBC Bay Division once again. Huron went the distance on Senior Night at Oak Harbor, edging the Rockets 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 18-25, 15-10 to claim its four straight Bay title and ninth SBC title in 10 years. The victory also was the 800th in Huron program history, dating back to 1974. Emma Solberg led the Tigers with 19 kills. Izzy Cozzie added 14 kills and three blocks while Casey Brown (12) and Megan Solberg (10) also reached double digits in kills. Kendall Camp had 27 digs and was 23-for-23 serving. Rae Roldan added 20 digs. Jess Holsapple had 30 assists and Tess Humphrey had 27 assists. "It was nice to see how players stepped up for each other and the team," Huron coach Don Wood said. The Tigers, who improved to 15-5 overall and 9-0 in the Bay, are 40-1 in division play since Oak Harbor won the SBC title in 2017. Huron had lost only three sets in division play this season prior to Tuesday's five-set thriller. The Tigers, ranked No. 6 in Division III, host Port Clinton on Thursday before finishing the regular season at home on Saturday against Columbus Bishop Hartley, which is ranked No. 8 in Division II. Oak Harbor fell to 16-5, 7-2 and had its five-match win streak ended. Margaretta 3, Willard 0 CASTALIA — Margaretta swept Willard 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 on Senior Night as Devyne Eisenhauer, Kenna Stimmel and Jilienne Nason played their final regular-season home match. Eisenhauer led the Polar Bears (15-6, 6-3 SBC Bay) with 10 kills and 14 digs. Nason had 26 assists and Stimmel added 13 digs. Kylie Leibacher finished with four aces. Edison 3, Port Clinton 0 PORT CLINTON — Edison swept Port Clinton 25-12, 25-14, 25-23 to improve to 11-9, 4-5 SBC Bay. Kira Appeman had 10 kills and 10 digs for the Chargers. Lydia Woodyard had 10 kills, 16 service points and three aces and Olivia Vitaz added 23 assists. PC dropped to 3-16, 0-9. Bellevue 3, Columbian 2 TIFFIN — Bellevue edged Tiffin Columbian in five sets, 25-17, 25-17, 21-25, 15-25, 15-13. Kailee Felder had 18 kills five blocks and three aces for the Lady Red (12-9, 7-4), which will finish in third place in the SBC Lake Division. Claire Turner added 14 kills. Emma Bollinger finished with 41 assists and 14 digs and Bailey Fisher added 22 digs. Monroeville 3, South Central 0 GREENWICH — Monroeville warmed up for its big match Thursday at St. Paul with a 25-10, 25-13, 25-22 sweep of South Central. Graisyn Yoder had 19 kills and 10 digs for the Eagles (18-3, 12-1 Firelands). Maddie Daniel had 16 kills and Hannah Lyons had 33 assists and 16 digs.
