Fun planned for Sandusky County parks

FREMONT — The Sandusky County Park District has a list of fun events taking place in October. To register for an event or learn more, go to lovemyparks.com or call 419-334-4495. Registration is required for all events.SaturdayFarm to Market: Head to Creek Bend Farm, 720 South Main St. in Lindsey to learn about farming and agriculture. Participants have the opportunity to collect animal goods, pick their own pumpkins and clean the animal pens. There are multiple 45-minute time slots available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants can register for one time slot. SundayVolunteer Opportunity - Stewardship Sunday: Help park staff with removing invasive cattails and phragmites, a type of invasive grass, from 2-4 p.m. at the Blue Heron Reserve, 2134 County Road 260 in Vickery. Attendees are asked to bring work gloves and water boots. Oct. 13Fall Craft Night: Join Sandusky County Park District employees for a no-sew crafting night at the Wilson Nature Center at the Creek Bend Farm at 6 p.m. Oct. 16Puddle jumpers/tree huggers - hide and seek: Play an outdoor game of hide and seek and learn more about how animals camouflage for protection. This event is from 10-11 a.m. at The Woods at the Luscombe Farm, 2341 County Road 213 in Clyde. Oct. 17Fall Color Hike: Head to Wolf Creek Park, 2701 South OHio 53 in Fremont, from 2-3 p.m. to check out the different fall colors taking over the trees. The creek also has views of the river and different elevations. Attendees will meet at Wolf Creek Park's south entrance. Oct. 22Whooo's in the Dark?: Explore and learn more about the different species that live in the dark. The event is at the Simcox Shelter at White Star Park, 925 S. Main St. in Gibsonburg, from 7-8:30 p.m. Oct. 23Monster Archery: Learn archery basics using NASP bows at the barn area of White Star Park, 5013 County Road 53 in Gibsonburg, from 4-5 p.m. Participants must be at least 10 years old.
